A brief NPR tribute this morning explained that Les Paul invented multitrack recording, which allowed musicians to "record different instruments, simultaneously."

Um, what? +1 on "Why newspapers are dying", generalized to radio. (Not that it's dying, but maybe the art of speaking clearly is.)

Speaking of late greats, John Hughes' private funeral was a block from my office on Tuesday, but I didn't know about it since neither Vince Vaughn nor Matthew Broderick (both of whom I've met, neither of whom would remember it) nor Ben Stein stopped by to let me know.
