American beauty

For this week's installment of our Friday performance series, one American classic performed by two more.

With their heartfelt rendition of the Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts," it's Emmylou Harris and the late Gram Parsons:

Not to quibble, but "Love Hurts" no more belongs to the Everly Brothers than it does to Nazareth. It was recorded by a bunch of folks, but written by one of country music's greatest songwriters, Boudleaux Bryant.

Okay fine, I quibbled.

See what I get for driving around listening to that awesome Everlys CD you burned me? I had their songs on the brain and went back to the Don & Phil well a second time, only to be crossed up by my own cluelessness.
